At the Beach

Last Friday the bug family and Uncle Chris went to the beach in Santa Cruz. It was the Lilibug's second time to the beach, the first time was in Mendoccino at the beginning of March but this was the first time she really was on the beach close to the water. The day was glorious and a beautiful experience for our little bug! She was captivated by the water and soothed to sleep in the car ride home. Our little bug.....what a cutied! Don't forget...the bug family all wore their hats for the day at the beach. Thanks Aunt Sally!

Friends Visits

Jim, a friend of the Daddy bug came by for a visit and met our little Lilibug. She had a fabulous time.

Here the Little Lilibug is visiting with Uncle Walter, he dropped by the bug home for a visit. It was a swell time as always catching up with Walt.

Teething?

It appears that the Lilibug may in fact be teething, either that or she has a cold. Daddy bug went out last night and retrieved a homepathetic teething gel, which seemed to do the trick and after applying to her gums last night and this afternoon she seemed to fine (stopped crying and today she slept for almost two hours after application to the gums). Only time will tell, she will either get over the cold (stuffiness, and slight fever) or else she will cut her first tooth. Whatever the case it has been a bit of turmoil in the bug household this week, sleepless nights and some irritability, but still our little bug is holding up well and she has so much charm even when she is feeling a little ill. What a trooper she is! After a few minutes of crying out in pain she can turn on that charm with a wee grin which works her magic and warms everyone's heart who is present in her vicinity. What a charmer!

Mama bug is still waiting for the roll-over that Daddy bug observed yesterday, but Mama bug did see several side turns, along with lots of amazing tummy time. Lilibug is getting really good at holding her head up while on her tummy for longer and longer periods of time. Mama bug wonders if this the first step towards her upright posture?

The rest of the week appears to be full of plenty chill and relaxed time, plus two other potential visits to other day cares in the area. Let's keep our fingers crossed on what will happen during these visits.

That's all for now!

Hats

Here are the bug family sporting their new hats that Aunt Sally Bug knit for us. That's right Hairy Bug's Great Aunt Sally calls herself a bug too! Thanks Aunt Sally Bug! We Love You!

Aunt Sally is actually Lilibug's Great-Great Aunt! Lilibug looks sooooooo adorable in her new hat!

Big Week!

Well, it was a big week for the little Lilibug. Here she is out on the town with Mama Ladybug for a girl's night out. The little Lilibug is being held by "Auntie Maggie" who is expecting her own little one in September.....so Lilibug will have another playmate! Hooray!!

On Monday last week Mama Ladybug took Lilibug out first get the taxes done....so the Lilibug already was present for her first taxation session. Yikes! How will this impact the little one? Upon leaving the tax appointment Mama Ladybug and Lilibug made their way to the delicious Mediterranean restaurant to meet up with the girls (Maggie and Allycia) for dinner. It was fabulous time and Lilibug seemed rather relaxed visiting with the girls and chowing down on some yummy breast milk. What a night it was, minus the screaming all the way home being in the backseat of the car all by herself as it was a late hour, or perhaps Lilibug was just protesting saying goodbye to the girls.

Later in the week the Ladybug and Lilibug made an appearance at the Mother's Nursing Group at the Kaiser Hospital (they occasionally attend the Thursday morning meetings to catch up with other mother's). The group ended up being a rather rambucation one since their were a lot of babies who were mobile and were cruising around the room. One little girl crawled over to Lilibug's car seat grabbed at it screaming and laughing loudly. It was quite exciting for the Lilibug but she looked on quietly as she rarely is vocal at the group and saves her loud voice for at home with the Ladybug and Hairy Bug.

The Ladybug and Lilibug attended a lunch with other mothers and babies after the group meeting. It was quite uneventful since Lilibug and most of the other babies slept through the whole lunch, but it was nice for the Ladybug to meet with the other mother's to discuss such hot topics as where to buy organic baby food, and when to start our babies on such dishes as cottage cheese and egg yolks. Rather stimulating conversations indeed!!

On Friday Ladybug and Lilibug had a very big day. To start the day off they had breakfast with a brand new mom and baby Aiden. It was a wonderful meeting with mom Monica, another new connection formed! During breakfast mom Monica put baby Aiden on the bench beside her and the Ladybug sat up Lilibug on her lap where the two babies could see each other when Aiden vocalized his greeting, the Lilibug smiled and cooed to him in return. It was one of the first of hopefully many meetings and play dates to follow.

Later on Friday, Ladybug and Lilibug visited a day care, since the Ladybug will be returning to work in a few months and looking for potential placements at day care is the first step to returning to work. The meeting on this particular was a simple get-to-know the staff at this day care, but it left the Ladybug with a distaste in her mouth. Their was a suggestion of the Lilibug being put on formula due to her size, and then a six-month baby present in the day home vomited all over the floor right beside the staff member (an older Peruvian woman) who was holding Lilibug. The Ladybug inquired if the child was sick, but the day home provider said..."Oh no, he's not sick" when in fact he had vomited about a full bottle of liquid up all over the floor. Before the Ladybug was leaving another staff member approached the day home provider saying (in what little spanish the Ladybug could understand) that the child was sick and had a slight fever. The whole situation struck the Ladybug as odd, and it brought up feelings of not wanting to leave the Lilibug with anyone else besides the Ladybug or with family - in a strange place when she must go back to work. Still, it does not appear this will be the day care that Lilibug will attend.

The BIG News for the week is that Lilibug has learned how to 'inch worm' her way across a blanket when she does her naked sun time in the afternoon on the floor. She has figured out how to use her feet to push herself upwards across the blanket. It's quite adorable, and when the Ladybug was not looking the Lilibug managed to push herself onto the hardwood floor when she started to cry because she could not move any further. The Lilibug also has learned to roll onto her side from her back, which means she is getting ready to roll over. We will patiently wait for her first roll-over. Big news for the Lilibug!! Oh yes, she was weighed on Thursday....she was 13 pounds and 2.9 ounces, growing like a weed our little bug!

That's all the news for the week.
